New Directions Welcomes David Baylor to Board of Directors

Los Angeles, CA — New Directions, Inc., a comprehensive treatment and transitional housing facility for veterans in need is pleased to announce that David Baylor has joined the agency's Board of Directors.
A US Army veteran and media executive with over 35 years of experience as VP of Engineering and Operations for PBS, VP Broadcast and Studio Operations for NBC and Executive Vice President of DIRECTV, Mr. Baylor is currently principal and founder of DB Technology, a consultancy firm focused on media, technology and organizational change.
He has extensive experience in strategic planning, cutting edge technology development and implementation as well as experience in leading organizational change in diverse environments. During his tenure at DIRECTV, Mr. Baylor led the design and implementation of the world's first all serial-digital broadcast facility and the first U.S. application of high-powered spot beam satellites for local television service, and the company garnered three Technical Emmys under his leadership.
An SMPTE fellow, member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers and Trustee of Harvey Mudd College, Mr. Baylor also served as Secretary General of the North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) from 2005 to 2009. A native of Washington, D.C., he currently resides with his wife, Shirley, in Los Angeles.
Having begun his career in the U.S. Army, he maintains both respect and empathy for those men and women who are willing to put their lives at risk in order to protect American interests.
"I was fortunate during my military service not to have served in combat, but I have friends who did and I am familiar with the strains and stresses they experienced. We owe a great debt to our veterans and as an American, it is an honor to be involved in assisting those who have sacrificed on behalf of our country," Mr. Baylor says about his interest in New Directions.
Founded in 1992, New Directions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation that operates five residential facilities and serves hundreds of veterans each year.
