Homefront America named one of ten finalists
in the 2011 Cox Cares Community Grant Program

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif., Sept. 6, 2011 – Homefront America, an all-volunteer 501c3 military outreach and support organization is one of ten finalists named in the 2011 Cox Cares community grant program.

The winning organization will receive a $10,000 grant.  All other organizations will receive grants between $2,500 - $5,000.  The public will determine which of the ten finalists will receive the $ 10,000 grant by casting their votes on-line at

Voting is now open and ends on Friday, September 16, 2011.

Arthur Hasselbrink and Mamie Yong Maywhort, co-founders of Homefront America are both asking the public to vote for their organization.  Hasselbrink is also a veteran of WWII and the Korean War.

“We will use the grant to launch our newly proposed Dress for Success program for military children,” Maywhort said.  “The new program will complement our existing program, Pack for Success, which provides quality name brand backpacks filled with grade specific school supplies for military children.

The Dress for Success idea came to Maywhort over a cup of coffee with a friend about three years ago.

“Ever since that day, I always envisioned sending our military children back to school with a new outfit or a new pair of shoes, to go with their new backpacks and school supplies.” Maywhort said.  “This grant will help us to do that and I thank all of the people at Cox Cares who helped make this possible.”

“If I can do this on-line voting thing at my age, anyone can,” Hasselbrink said.  “The kids need your vote.”

When asked which organization he voted for, Hasselbrink quickly replied, “guess?”
