MilitaryConnection.com Congratulates Give an Hour as it Surpasses 200,000 Hours of Complimentary Mental Health Care to Those Who Serve and Their Families
Taking care of those who serve and their families is one way that we can convey our pride and appreciation for their service and the sacrifices
Debbie Gregory, CEO of MilitaryConnection.com, extends her congratulations to Give an Hour for hitting the milestone mark of more than 200,000 hours of free mental health care provided through its network of nearly 7,000 volunteer mental health professionals.
Ms. Gregory, who serves on Give an Hour’s Advisory Board, is a staunch supporter of providing benefits for those who serve, past and present.
“When men and women don our nation’s uniform to protect us and our way of life, the very least they deserve is a promising future, which includes healthcare for their emotional well-being,” said Ms. Gregory. “Taking care of those who serve and their families is one way that we can convey our pride and appreciation for their service and the sacrifices.”
Give an Hour’s Founder and President Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen said, "We are proud to serve those who serve and their families -- and grateful for the dedication and generosity of our network of mental health professionals." She added, "Mental health is not a military or veteran issue, but those who serve -- and their families -- experience circumstances that place them at greater risk for mental health challenges."
In addition to providing direct care and support to service members, veterans, and their families, Give an Hour serves as the backbone organization behind the Campaign to Change Direction, a collective impact effort to change the culture of mental health in America.
Ms. Gregory, a 2013 recipient of Give an Hour’s Celebration of Service, said, “The role Give an Hour plays in providing these much-needed mental health services is invaluable, and I know that in addition to saving lives, this great non-profit will continue to achieve additional milestones in the future.”
