Army Heritage Center Foundation Named A Top-Rated Education Nonprofit for 2010 by, the Leading Provider of User Reviews For Nonprofit Organizations., a leading provider of ratings and reviews of nonprofit organizations in the United States has named The Army Heritage Center Foundation among its top-rated education nonprofits as part of their's Educational Campaign.  The top-rated education nonprofits list is composed of organizations that have received at least ten positive reviews from stakeholders, such as volunteers, donors, or clients. The Army Heritage Center Foundation received 21 positive reviews, averaging 4.75 out of 5 stars.   

“The response, especially from educators, regarding our National History Day in Pennsylvania Program has been tremendous,” says Education Director Jeff Hawks. “Education is an important part of the Foundation's mission, and we are pleased to know that our programs are well-received by so many.”  The Foundation sponsors educational programs and provides teachers and students with free online educational materials.  The Foundation also manages National History Day in Pennsylvania, a year-long program of historical learning and exploration for students in grades 6-12 The Foundation also manages the Voices of the Past Speak to the Future Veteran's Oral History Program, in which middle-school and high-school students are trained to conduct oral history interviews with veterans. 

A middle-school teacher wrote in a review that the Foundation “enabled me to meet my goal of better educating today's children with the facts of American military history.”  A fifth grade history teacher wrote:  “This nonprofit foundation is such a great asset to our community and to the education of our children. It helps to make my students want to learn more...”  Another reviewer highlighted the benefits of the program for everyone involved:  “This program is excellent!  Students, teachers and judges all learn from their experiences…I have learned to view the world a little differently because I have seen it through the eyes of the students' analysis.”  And a high school gifted teacher had this to say:  “[The Army Heritage Center Foundation] broadened my knowledge as a High School Gifted Seminar Teacher by providing great lecture/learning opportunities for me.” “What a great way, too, for Pennsylvania teachers to earn continuing education hours (Act 48) to maintain their certification.”

The reviews were posted as part of the 2010 Power of Education Campaign conducted by GreatNonprofits, in partnership with Guidestar and a coalition of nonprofit organizations. “We are gratified to be able to honor the Army Heritage Center Foundation for its work on education issues,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits. “They deserve to be recognized for the support they have from their community of stakeholders.”

About the Foundation

The Army Heritage Center Foundation continues to strive to expand the US Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) campus and enhance its programs. The Foundation serves as the project manager for privately funded construction projects on the campus. Currently, the Foundation is managing outfitting of the newly constructed Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center, a key component of the US Army Heritage and Education Center campus. The Visitor and Education Center will be the focal point for all campus educational activities and will serve as the primary point of entry into the USAHEC Campus.

The Foundation's development program seeks grants and donations to build Phase Two of the Visitor and Education Center, support construction of the Army Heritage Center, and create an endowment to sustain and enhance educational programs. The Foundation's education program complements the Center's programs and exhibits by providing teachers educational material from the USAHEC collection and is a state approved continuing education provider. The Foundation also supports and enhances the USAHEC's public outreach by supporting marketing initiatives and serving as a public advocate of the Center's mission and programs.
