In 1999, legislation passed in the U.S. Senate designating May as National Military Appreciation Month. The reason May was selected for this honor was that May has most days for celebrating and commemorating U.S. military achievements, including Victory in Europe (VE) Day on May 8, 1945, Armed Forces Day, Military Spouse Appreciation Day, and of course, Memorial Day. National Military Appreciation Month allows us to rally ‘round our military to honor, remember, recognize and appreciate those who serve, past and present. I encourage you to observe Military Appreciation not only in May, but throughout the year.

Best regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

Gary Sinise

Gary Does it Again!

When it comes to providing assistance for wounded Veterans, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band are picking up where a group of California school students left off. Students at Lancaster High have raised more than $180,000 to build Army Spc. Jerral Hancock a new home that is handicap accessible. On May 28, 2007, Hancock’s 21st birthday, the tank he was driving was struck by a bomb, severely injuring the Lancaster soldier. The students’ campaign, “All the Way Home” has come up short of the goal. Our friend Gary, who is as famous for his charitable acts as he is for his movie roles, will playing a concert with the Lt. Dan Band on May 10th at Lancaster, California’s JetHawks Stadium to benefit Hancock. To purchase tickets for the concert, please click here.
