I had the honor of attending Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton's 72nd anniversary at the historic Santa Margarita Ranch House. Camp Pendleton is the Corps' largest West Coast expeditionary training facility. As one of the DoD’s busiest installations, Camp Pendleton has training facilities on 125,000+ acres of Southern California terrain for many active and reserve Marine, Army and Navy units, as well as national, state and local agencies. The base is also home to more than 38,000 military family members.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish the U.S. Navy a happy birthday. For 239 years, the Navy has maintained, trained and equipped combat-ready Naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining freedom of the seas. Those who have served in the Navy include six of our nation’s presidents, numerous members of Congress, astronauts, entertainers, authors and professional athletes.

Scam Alert!

If It Seems Too Good To Be True…

If It Seems Too Good To Be True…

We often get phone calls from kind-hearted Americans who think that they have financially helped out a servicemember, only to realize that they have been scammed. In a perfect world, the good guys should always finish first, and the bad guys should be in jail. Since knowledge is power, we want to empower our audience with information regarding a new scam. There have been a number of calls to taxpayers by con artists claiming to be the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) stating that the taxpayer owes them money, and if they don’t pay immediately, they will be arrested! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS or any similar fraudulent story regarding a tax liability. The IRS NEVER contacts a taxpayer via email or telephone. If a tax liability is owed, the Internal Revenue Service will only ever send correspondence through regular U.S. mail.
