Newsletter - October 2015 #2

Tell a Friend

I would like to take this opportunity to salute all of the wonderful organizations and groups that work on both the national level as well as the local level to support active duty military, Guard and Reserve troops, veterans and their families. This wonderful sea of goodwill requires countless hours of dedication, and a lot of energy. Many of these non-profits operate on very limited budgets, so we do what we can, pro bono, to support and assist them. This is the reason you will often see large events at well-known venues next to a local golf tournament, 5K Run/Walk, benefit concert, etc. on our social media and in our newsletters. We also take pride in facilitating mutually beneficial partnerships between good corporate citizens and many of these groups and organizations, which is a win/win for all. If you know of a worthy non-profit that should be considered for inclusion, please email the details to [email protected].

Best regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

VA To Launch Vets.gov

VA To Launch Vets.gov

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will launch a new website, Vets.gov, on Veterans Day, November 11. The new website will consolidate the approximately 1,000 websites the department manages now. The portal is designed to help veterans find and apply for benefits and services on one website rather than go through the maze of VA-managed websites that exist now. The new website will have content but not the single, secure sign-on function that veterans will need to provide access to all other departmental sites. That capability is expected to take another year. For more information, click here.

The Military and Veteran Caregiver Peer Support Network (MVCN) offers peer-based support and services to connect caregivers with their peers for support and help accessing the resources of partner organizations. This support helps increase their wellness, knowledge and skills. For more information, click here.
