With the holidays quickly approaching, we all get caught up in the hustle and bustle of gift shopping, parties, etc. Let’s all remember the sacrifices that are made by our men and women in uniform, and their families. The holidays are a hard time to have a family member deployed, but we can all challenge ourselves to perform small acts of kindness for military families. Also, if you can, remember to support the non-profits that tend to their needs year round.

Warm regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

Good Works on ABC Extreme Home Make Over

Gov Vacation Rewards

Vacation for Veteran Family

Our friends at Government Vacation Rewards (GVR) have been busy all year, supporting military personnel and their families. Amongst their good deeds, GVR joined forces with ABC to help a military Veteran, severely injured by an IED explosion in Iraq, make his family’s vacation wish come true. SSG Shilo Harris, his wife Kathreyn and their four kids (ages 2, 9, 11 and 12) traveled to Landstuhl, Germany, to thank the doctors who saved Shilo’s life. So our hats are off to GVR for donning their halos and making this dream vacation happen for the Harris family! Be sure to see their story, one of four Christmas episodes of ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, on Monday, December 17th. Check your local ABC listings for airtime. For more information on GVR, click here.

Gifts for Veterans

Honor One

Heroes' Week

Organized by an amazing group of Vietnam Veterans, Heroes’ Week is an annual event where the entire city of Huntsville welcomes home our wounded men and women from all over the country, and thanks them for their service. This year, the wounded arrived with their significant others or caregivers, and they were treated like royalty. From the time they landed at the airport with hundreds of people cheering them, to being featured at an Alabama Crimson Tide football game, to appearing in the Veterans Day Parade, this event was truly a Heroes' Week. Honor One, in partnership with Products for Good, had the opportunity to provide gifts to the special guests. Honor One owes a debt of gratitude to the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas for their generous monetary donation that paid for all of the gift for these wounded warriors.
