Join Team Fisher House

Team Fisher House has just opened registration for their Fundraising Team at the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon! The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times - during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major military medical center to assist families in need and to ensure that they are provided with the comforts of home in a supportive environment. No family ever pays to stay at any Fisher House! Join the team to raise funds and awareness for Fisher House Foundation - Join the Champions for Military Families team! Go to TeamFisherHouse.org/MCM to get more registration details.

Fundraiser for Wounded Warrior

Brian Jergens

Receiving the Purple Heart was a bittersweet moment for Sgt. Brian Jergens. The 23-year-old lost a lot to gain the honor: both legs, his spleen and his wedding ring finger. Brian also suffered severe brain damage after a road side explosion. Brian and his wife Jennifer could really use our help.  They are in immediate need of funding to get a vehicle modified for wheelchair access. Brian will be discharged and transferred to an outpatient program, necessitating travel to and from the VA daily for his treatment and therapy. On January 28th, there will be a benefit concert and luncheon at the Palo Alto, CA Elks Lodge. For more information, or to mail a tax deductible donation, click here

Membership in ASMBA is open to all persons under age 65, who are currently serving on active duty in the Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserve (including IRR), or who are military retirees. Membership is FREE and comes with $5,000 FREE Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage and a FREE copy of "What If Something Should Happen", a comprehensive financial planning guide, along with many other benefits! Join today!

Good Works

Good Works

Our friends at Government Vacation Rewards have been busy. Amongst their good deeds they were recently recognized by the Wounded Warrior Foundation as a platinum level corporate sponsor. In addition to the funds they raised through sales promotions (over $12,000), they also donated 180 resort stays. These vacations were provided to Wounded Warriors to use on convalescent leave while undergoing rehabilitation at the Joint Rehabilitation Center in Washington D.C. and other facilities. So our hats are off to GVR for donning their halos and making these vacations happen! For more information on GVR, click here.

Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a denied claim with the VA. Most of this information is free and available to all veterans, but you have to ask for it. We invite you to look over the list of websites in the event that one or more of them will be advantageous to you. We also recommend that you bookmark the page for future use.
