Although we appreciate our nation’s Military every day of the year, May is one of those months where we have a number of designated holidays: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, and National Military Appreciation Month. These observances allow us, as a country, to come together to formally honor, remember, recognize and appreciate all of those who have served and are currently serving. As we near Memorial Day, I hope you will join me in taking a moment to honor and thank those who gave so much to make our country great. Remember, they gave up all of their tomorrows so that we could live ours in freedom.

Best regards,

Debbie Gregory, CEO

Deadline Extended to October 21st

Stop Loss

You’ve Earned It

The deadline to apply for Retroactive Stop Loss Special Pay has been re-instated and extended to October 21, 2012. Service members and veterans whose military service was involuntarily extended under the “Stop Loss” program between the 9/11 terrorist attacks and Sept. 30, 2009, are eligible for special retroactive pay. The special pay is compensation for the hardships the involuntary extensions caused, officials said. Eligible members or their beneficiaries may submit a claim to their respective military service to receive $500 for each full or partial month served in a Stop Loss status. Because the majority of those eligible had separated from the military, many eligible service members, veterans and their beneficiaries are not aware of the benefit. VeteransAid’s mission is to provide a comprehensive, national fundraising platform and global social network in order to stabilize and strengthen the system by which awareness is heightened and veterans’ needs are met. We hope you will support VeteransAid by making a donation. Just text “VETS” to 80888 to donate now. MilitaryConnection.com is a proud sponsor of VeteransAid.

Military Spouse Privilege Petition

Military Spouse

Sign, Support & Share!

NEED 25,000 Signatures by June 2nd

Please help Military Spouses by taking one minute of your time to sign this petition. EO 13473 is a non-competitive appointment authority that federal civilian agencies use to hire military spouses for government jobs. Spouses who move with their soldier to a new duty station, spouses of soldiers killed, disabled or injured in action may use this this benefit. Spouses have a 2 year window of eligibility from the date in the Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Some PCS orders indicate a report date that can be a month, six months, sometimes a year later! The clock on this two year eligibility begins ticking as soon as orders are received. When the report date is months later, there is a loss of time to use this benefit. Please take one minute to sign this petition to change the date to the report date; one minute is nothing compared to the sacrifices these spouses make to ensure that you have the freedom to sign this petition.
